🔥 Amazon Fire Stick Setup

  1. From the Fire Stick home screen, open the Silk Browser app. If you don't see it, search "Silk Browser" in the Amazon Appstore (free). You can also use Firefox as an alternative
  2. Use the remote to select the address bar at the top and type:
    theeventbucket.com/tv
  3. Select your city from the list
  4. Press the menu button (☰) on your remote and select "Add Bookmark", this saves the page so you can open it with one click next time
  5. The page displays fullscreen automatically. Scroll down to hide the address bar for a clean display
Pro tip: Your city selection is remembered automatically. Next time you open the bookmark, the events load right away, no need to pick a city again. The screen stays on while Event Bucket is running.

📺 Android TV / Google TV Setup

Note: Chrome is not available on Android TV. Use one of these two methods instead:

Option A: Install a TV Browser

  1. On your TV, open the Google Play Store and search for "Puffin TV Browser" (free). You can also use "TV Bro" as an alternative
  2. Open the browser and navigate to:
    theeventbucket.com/tv
  3. Select your city, it will be remembered for next time
  4. Bookmark the page for one-click access

Option B: Cast from Your Phone

  1. On your phone, open Chrome and go to theeventbucket.com/tv
  2. Select your city and let the events load
  3. Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) and select "Cast"
  4. Choose your Android TV / Google TV from the list
Pro tip: Casting from your phone is the quickest way to get started. Make sure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network. Set your phone to "Do Not Disturb" so notifications don't appear on the TV.

🟣 Roku Setup (Screen Mirroring)

  1. On your Roku, go to Settings → System → Screen Mirroring and set it to "Prompt" or "Always allow"
  2. On your phone or laptop, open a browser and go to theeventbucket.com/tv
  3. Select your city and let the events load
  4. From an Android phone: Swipe down to open Quick Settings. Tap "Screen Cast" (or "Smart View" on Samsung phones), then select your Roku
  5. From a Windows laptop: Press Win + K, select your Roku from the list
  6. Accept the connection on the Roku if prompted
Pro tip: For the best experience, set your phone/laptop to "Do Not Disturb" so notifications don't pop up over the event display. Keep the device plugged in so it doesn't sleep.

🎯 Chromecast Setup

  1. On your computer, open Google Chrome browser
  2. Go to theeventbucket.com/tv and select your city
  3. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in Chrome's top-right corner
  4. Select "Cast, save, and share" then "Cast..."
  5. Choose "Cast tab" as the source, then select your Chromecast device
Pro tip: Casting a tab uses your computer as the source, so keep it open and connected to the same Wi-Fi as the Chromecast. For a permanent setup, a $30 Chromecast + an old laptop works great.

🍎 Apple TV Setup (AirPlay)

  1. On your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, open Safari or Chrome
  2. Go to theeventbucket.com/tv and select your city
  3. From iPhone/iPad: Open Control Center (swipe down from top-right), tap "Screen Mirroring", select your Apple TV
  4. From Mac: Click the Control Center icon in the menu bar (top-right), click "Screen Mirroring", then select your Apple TV
  5. Your screen will appear on the TV with the event display running
Pro tip: Turn on "Do Not Disturb" on your device so personal notifications don't show on the public TV display.

🖥️ Samsung / LG Smart TV Setup

  1. Open the "Web Browser" app on your TV (find it in your apps list, it comes pre-installed on Samsung and LG Smart TVs)
  2. Navigate to:
    theeventbucket.com/tv
  3. Select your city from the list
  4. Bookmark the page for easy one-click access next time
  5. Samsung only: You can add it to your home screen, open the browser menu and select "Add to Bookmarks"
Pro tip: Samsung TVs can also mirror from a Samsung phone using the SmartThings app. LG TVs support AirPlay from iPhones and Screen Share from Android phones.

📡 Vizio Smart TV Setup

Vizio TVs do not have a built-in web browser, but they have Chromecast built-in and support AirPlay.

Option A: Cast from a Computer (Chromecast Built-in)

  1. On your computer, open Google Chrome
  2. Go to theeventbucket.com/tv and select your city
  3. Click the three-dot menu (⋮)"Cast, save, and share""Cast..."
  4. Select your Vizio TV from the list, it appears just like a Chromecast

Option B: AirPlay from iPhone/iPad

  1. Open Safari on your iPhone and go to theeventbucket.com/tv
  2. Select your city
  3. Open Control Center (swipe down from top-right), tap "Screen Mirroring", select your Vizio TV
Pro tip: Make sure your phone/computer and Vizio TV are on the same Wi-Fi network. Set your device to "Do Not Disturb" so personal notifications don't show on the TV.

💻 Laptop + HDMI Setup (Simplest)

  1. Connect your laptop to the TV with an HDMI cable
  2. Open any browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari)
  3. Go to theeventbucket.com/tv
  4. Select your city
  5. Press F11 for fullscreen
  6. That's it, the display runs itself
Pro tip: This is the most reliable option for lobbies, community centers, and offices. Set the laptop to "Never sleep when plugged in" in your power settings, and the display will run 24/7.
