🔥 Amazon Fire Stick Setup

  1. One-time: Disable the screensaver so the display never goes dark. From the Fire Stick home screen, go to Settings → Display & Sounds → Screensaver → Start Time and choose "Never." Also flip Settings → Display & Sounds → Sleep to "Never." This is the only OS-level setting required, and it's free.
  2. From the Fire Stick home screen, open the Silk Browser app. If you don't see it, search "Silk Browser" in the Amazon Appstore (free). You can also use Firefox as an alternative
  3. Use the remote to select the address bar at the top and type:
    theeventbucket.com/tv
  4. Select your city from the list
  5. Press the menu button (☰) on your remote and select "Add Bookmark", this saves the page so you can open it with one click next time
  6. The page displays fullscreen automatically. Scroll down to hide the address bar for a clean display
No kiosk app needed. Event Bucket has built-in kiosk hardening — the screen stays awake, fullscreen self-heals if it drops, the cursor auto-hides, and the page auto-reloads every 8 hours to stay fresh. The only thing the browser can't override is the Fire Stick's own screensaver — that's why step 1 matters. Once it's set, walk away and the display runs indefinitely.

📺 Android TV / Google TV Setup

Note: Chrome is not available on Android TV. Use one of these two methods instead:

Option A: Install a TV Browser

  1. One-time: Disable the screensaver. Go to Settings → Device Preferences → Screensaver and set "When to start" to "Never" (or the highest available value). Also check Settings → Device Preferences → Power & Energy and set sleep to "Never." Free, one-time toggle.
  2. On your TV, open the Google Play Store and search for "Puffin TV Browser" (free). You can also use "TV Bro" as an alternative
  3. Open the browser and navigate to:
    theeventbucket.com/tv
  4. Select your city, it will be remembered for next time
  5. Bookmark the page for one-click access

Option B: Cast from Your Phone

  1. On your phone, open Chrome and go to theeventbucket.com/tv
  2. Select your city and let the events load
  3. Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) and select "Cast"
  4. Choose your Android TV / Google TV from the list
Pro tip: Casting from your phone is the quickest way to get started. Make sure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network. Set your phone to "Do Not Disturb" so notifications don't appear on the TV.

🟣 Roku Setup (Screen Mirroring)

  1. One-time on the Roku: disable screensaver / auto-off. Go to Settings → System → Power → Auto power off and set it to "Off." Also go to Settings → Screensaver → Wait time and choose "Disabled" (or the longest option available). On the SOURCE device (phone or laptop) you're mirroring from, do the same — see the matching device's instructions for sleep settings.
  2. On your Roku, go to Settings → System → Screen Mirroring and set it to "Prompt" or "Always allow"
  3. On your phone or laptop, open a browser and go to theeventbucket.com/tv
  4. Select your city and let the events load
  5. From an Android phone: Swipe down to open Quick Settings. Tap "Screen Cast" (or "Smart View" on Samsung phones), then select your Roku
  6. From a Windows laptop: Press Win + K, select your Roku from the list
  7. Accept the connection on the Roku if prompted
No kiosk app needed. Event Bucket's built-in kiosk mode (auto-fullscreen, screen-wake, cursor-hide, 8-hour auto-refresh) runs on the source device. Set your phone/laptop to "Do Not Disturb" so personal notifications don't appear on the public display, and keep the source device plugged in.

🎯 Chromecast Setup

  1. One-time: stop the source computer from sleeping. Chromecast itself doesn't sleep, but it mirrors a tab from your computer — if the computer sleeps, the cast stops. Windows: Settings → System → Power & battery → Screen & sleep → set both options to "Never" when plugged in. Mac: System Settings → Lock Screen → "Turn display off on power adapter" → "Never." Also pick a long-lived browser tab — Chrome cast stops if the tab closes.
  2. On your computer, open Google Chrome browser
  3. Go to theeventbucket.com/tv and select your city
  4. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in Chrome's top-right corner
  5. Select "Cast, save, and share" then "Cast..."
  6. Choose "Cast tab" as the source, then select your Chromecast device
No kiosk app needed. Event Bucket's built-in kiosk mode runs on the source computer (auto-fullscreen, wake-lock, cursor-hide, 8-hour refresh). For a permanent setup, a $30 Chromecast + an old laptop works great — leave both plugged in, on the same Wi-Fi, and walk away.

🍎 Apple TV Setup (AirPlay)

  1. One-time on the Apple TV: stop it from sleeping. Go to Settings → General → Sleep After and set it to "Never." Also Settings → AirPlay and HomeKit → set "Conference Room Display" to Off (it interrupts the mirrored view). Free, one-time.
  2. On the source iPhone, iPad, or Mac you're AirPlaying from, also disable sleep: iOS → Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock → Never. Mac → System Settings → Lock Screen / Battery → "Prevent display from going to sleep when connected to power."
  3. On your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, open Safari or Chrome
  4. Go to theeventbucket.com/tv and select your city
  5. From iPhone/iPad: Open Control Center (swipe down from top-right), tap "Screen Mirroring", select your Apple TV
  6. From Mac: Click the Control Center icon in the menu bar (top-right), click "Screen Mirroring", then select your Apple TV
  7. Your screen will appear on the TV with the event display running
No kiosk app needed. Event Bucket's built-in kiosk mode handles fullscreen, wake-lock, cursor-hide, and an 8-hour refresh automatically. Just turn on "Do Not Disturb" on the source device so personal notifications don't show on the public TV.

🖥️ Samsung / LG Smart TV Setup

  1. One-time: disable the sleep timer and screensaver.
    • Samsung: Settings → General & Privacy → System Manager → Time → Sleep Timer → Off. Then Settings → All Settings → General → Eco Solution → Auto Power Off → Off.
    • LG: Settings → All Settings → General → Timers → Sleep Timer → Off AND Power Off Timer → Off. Also turn off Settings → General → Energy Saving → Auto Power Off.
    Free, one-time toggles.
  2. Open the "Web Browser" app on your TV (find it in your apps list, it comes pre-installed on Samsung and LG Smart TVs)
  3. Navigate to:
    theeventbucket.com/tv
  4. Select your city from the list
  5. Bookmark the page for easy one-click access next time
  6. Samsung only: You can add it to your home screen, open the browser menu and select "Add to Bookmarks"
No kiosk app needed. Event Bucket's built-in kiosk mode handles fullscreen, wake-lock, cursor-hide, and an 8-hour auto-refresh — the built-in TV browser just runs the page and the rest is automatic. Samsung TVs can also mirror from a Samsung phone using SmartThings, and LG TVs support AirPlay from iPhones and Screen Share from Android.

📡 Vizio Smart TV Setup

Vizio TVs do not have a built-in web browser, but they have Chromecast built-in and support AirPlay.

One-time: disable the Vizio sleep timer

On the Vizio remote, press Menu (or V button) → Timers → Sleep Timer → Off. Also check System → Power Mode → Quick Start so the TV doesn't deep-sleep. Free, one-time. On the source device you're casting from, see that device's instructions for its own sleep setting.

Option A: Cast from a Computer (Chromecast Built-in)

  1. On your computer, open Google Chrome
  2. Go to theeventbucket.com/tv and select your city
  3. Click the three-dot menu (⋮)"Cast, save, and share""Cast..."
  4. Select your Vizio TV from the list, it appears just like a Chromecast

Option B: AirPlay from iPhone/iPad

  1. Open Safari on your iPhone and go to theeventbucket.com/tv
  2. Select your city
  3. Open Control Center (swipe down from top-right), tap "Screen Mirroring", select your Vizio TV
No kiosk app needed. Event Bucket's built-in kiosk mode handles fullscreen, screen-wake, and the 8-hour auto-refresh on the source device. Make sure phone/computer and Vizio TV are on the same Wi-Fi network, set the source device to "Do Not Disturb," and keep it plugged in.

💻 Laptop + HDMI Setup (Simplest)

  1. One-time: stop the laptop from sleeping or locking.
    • Windows: Settings → System → Power & battery → Screen and sleep. Set BOTH "When plugged in, turn off screen after" and "When plugged in, put device to sleep after" to "Never." Also turn off the screensaver: search "screensaver" → choose "(None)."
    • Mac: System Settings → Lock Screen → "Turn display off on power adapter when inactive" → "Never." Also turn on "Prevent automatic locking" and set "Start Screen Saver when inactive" to "Never."
Free, one-time toggles. The TV will then run as long as the laptop has power.
  2. Connect your laptop to the TV with an HDMI cable
  3. Open any browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari)
  4. Go to theeventbucket.com/tv
  5. Select your city
  6. Press F11 for fullscreen
  7. That's it, the display runs itself
The most reliable setup. No kiosk app needed — Event Bucket's built-in kiosk mode handles fullscreen, wake-lock, cursor-hide, and an 8-hour auto-refresh automatically. A laptop + HDMI is the simplest 24/7 lobby or community-center setup. Keep it plugged in and walk away.
