5. User-Generated Content & Disclaimer
Events listed on The Event Bucket™ Network community boards are submitted by community members. Event listings do not represent the endorsement, sponsorship, or official views of any participating city, municipality, or The Event Bucket™ Network. Neither the Platform nor any subscribing city verifies, endorses, or assumes liability for the accuracy, legality, or safety of posted events. Users should independently verify event information before attending.
By submitting an event, you represent and warrant that:
- All information provided is accurate and not misleading
- You are authorized to publicize the event
- The event does not violate any applicable laws or regulations
- You accept sole responsibility for the content of your submission
- You understand that your submission does not imply city or platform endorsement
6. Prohibited Content
The following types of content are prohibited on all Event Bucket™ community boards and may result in immediate rejection or removal of a listing. Submitters will be notified via email of any violations. Prohibited content includes:
- Political content: Campaign advertising, candidate promotion, partisan advocacy, political fundraisers, ballot measure campaigns, or PAC events
- Commercial spam: Multi-level marketing (MLM), pyramid schemes, direct sales pitches, or events whose primary purpose is selling products or services
- Discriminatory content: Events promoting hatred, harassment, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, national origin, or any other protected characteristic
- Misleading information: False event dates, fabricated organizer identities, bait-and-switch descriptions, or deceptive claims
- Adult content: Sexually explicit material, graphic violence, or content not suitable for a general public audience including minors
- Illegal activity: Events promoting or facilitating illegal activity or violations of local, state, or federal law
- Government impersonation: Events falsely representing themselves as organized, endorsed, or sponsored by a government entity
- Unverified fundraisers: Charitable solicitations not associated with a verifiable nonprofit organization or community group
- Incomplete submissions: Listings missing required details such as event name, date, location, or contact information
- Duplicate listings: Submitting the same event multiple times
- Other inappropriate content: Any content the city administrator determines is not suitable for public community display
All events are subject to review and approval by the city administrator. Rejected submissions will receive an email notification identifying the specific guideline violation(s) and, where applicable, guidance for resubmission.
7. Developer API Access
The Event Bucket™ Network offers a public developer API that allows third parties to query event data programmatically. Use of the API is governed by these Terms and the tier-specific quotas listed at theeventbucket.com/developers. By using the API, with or without a key, you agree to the following additional terms:
- Free tier (1,000 requests per month): Available at no cost with attribution required in any public-facing app, website, widget, display, or derivative work that uses the data. Minimum attribution is a visible "Powered by Event Bucket" link pointing to https://www.theeventbucket.com. Commercial use is allowed at the free tier only for projects that include this attribution and remain within the monthly quota.
- Developer tier ($29/month, 10,000 requests) and Business tier ($199/month, 100,000 requests): Available via paid subscription. Paid tiers still require attribution in public-facing apps unless a written attribution waiver is issued by The Event Bucket™ Network.
- Enterprise tier: Custom quotas, custom terms, and optional attribution waiver available via contract. Contact sean@wilwellcompany.com.
- Anonymous access: Public endpoints may be accessed without a key at a hard cap of 100 requests per IP per hour. Anonymous use is for low-volume browsing only. Scraping, bulk harvesting, or automated extraction beyond this cap is prohibited and constitutes unauthorized use of the Platform.
- Prohibited uses: You agree not to (a) share, publish, or resell your API key, (b) bypass or attempt to bypass rate limits, (c) operate a competing aggregator, directory, or public event index primarily populated with data sourced from this API, (d) strip, hide, or falsify required attribution, (e) scrape the Platform via web crawlers, headless browsers, or automated tools in lieu of using the API, or (f) use API data to harass, dox, or otherwise harm event organizers, venues, or submitters.
- Data accuracy: Event data is community-submitted. The API returns the same data displayed on public event boards. No warranty of accuracy, completeness, or timeliness is provided, and the disclaimer in Section 5 applies equally to API responses.
- Termination and quota enforcement: Exceeding your monthly quota returns HTTP 429 until the next monthly reset. Violating the prohibited-uses list above may result in immediate key suspension or revocation without refund. We reserve the right to block IPs, subnets, or user agents engaged in abuse.
- SLA: The Business tier carries a 99.9% monthly uptime target measured over calendar months. Downtime credits, if applicable, are capped at one month of the Business tier fee and must be requested in writing within 30 days. Free and Developer tiers are provided on a best-effort basis with no SLA.
- Changes to endpoints: We may add, change, or deprecate API endpoints. Business tier subscribers receive at least 60 days' advance notice of any breaking change; other tiers receive best-effort notice through the developer portal.
- Cancellation: Canceling a paid API tier downgrades your key to the free tier (1,000 requests per month) at the end of the current billing cycle. Your key is not revoked, so production integrations keep working within the free quota.
8. Intellectual Property
The Platform, including its design, text, graphics, and functionality, is owned by The Event Bucket™ Network and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or transmit any content without prior written permission, except for personal, non-commercial use. API consumers receive a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to query, cache, and display event data in accordance with their tier and the attribution requirement above. This license does not grant ownership of the underlying data or permission to republish bulk exports.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Event Bucket™ Network shall not be liable for:
- Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of data, revenue, or profits
- Errors or omissions in event information provided by city administrators
- Disruptions or delays in service caused by factors beyond our control
- User interactions or disputes related to events listed on the Platform
Our total liability under these terms shall not exceed the amount paid for your subscription in the past 12 months.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. We disclaim all warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Event Bucket™ Network, its officers, and employees from any claims, damages, or costs arising from:
- Your use of the Platform in violation of these terms
- Content you post or transmit
- Your violation of any applicable laws or third-party rights
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform immediately, without notice, if you:
- Violate these Terms of Service
- Post illegal or harmful content
- Engage in fraudulent or deceptive practices
- Fail to pay subscription fees
Upon termination, your access to the Platform will be revoked, and all data associated with your account may be removed after a reasonable grace period.
13. Third-Party Links
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of external sites. Your use of third-party services is governed by their own terms and policies.
14. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the Platform shall be governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where The Event Bucket™ Network is based. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in that location.
